Tamarack Lodge
A little piece of arts and crafts magic has appeared on the Grand Traverse Bay, in Traverse City, Michigan. R.C. Hermann, the developer and visionary behind the Tamarack Lodge, has a love for arts and crafts that is only surpassed by his desire to create a vacation spot for families to enjoy together and return to—again and again.
Tamarack Lodge is a condo hotel project to be built in three phases. The first phase opened in August 2006 with on building housing the lobby lounge and reception areas and 27 luxury condominiums sold in 1/8th shares. R.C., referred by his architect Dave Spala of Traverse Architectural Group, contacted r.o.i. Design in early in 2005. r.o.i.’s role in the design was to consult on suites layouts, furniture plans, interior finishes, and furniture fulfillment. We also provided graphic design for some of the sales support collateral describing the project to buyers.
The magic of the project is not only the premier location on the bay, but the consistent use of rich golds, greens and reds throughout the project. The palette is complimented by furnishings that pay homage to an arts and crafts sensibility without being antique or old. The details of the project define the carefulness and the caring that occurred in the planning process—inset tile and copper finishes on reception desk, custom built-ins in public and private areas, etched slate back splashes in the kitchens, period designs in suites master baths with double pedestal sinks and mosaic borders in the bathroom floors, to name just a few.
